MSc in Strategic International Management with Health Management

The MSc in Strategic International Management at International Business School (IBS) Budapest introduces an exciting new Health Management specialisation, designed for ambitious graduates and future leaders who want to combine advanced business and management expertise with one of the world's most important and rapidly transforming industries: healthcare.

Healthcare organisations face increasingly complex challenges, from rising costs and workforce shortages to digital transformation, artificial intelligence and growing expectations for high-quality, patient-centred services. Addressing these challenges requires professionals who can combine strategic thinking, financial expertise, technological understanding and effective leadership.

The Health Management specialisation prepares students to analyse these challenges, make informed strategic decisions and contribute to the transformation of healthcare organisations in an international environment.

An International Management Degree with a Healthcare Focus

Unlike traditional healthcare programmes centred on clinical practice, the IBS MSc takes a strategic, business-oriented approach to healthcare management.

The three-semester, 90-credit programme combines advanced international business and management education with 25 credits of specialised healthcare management modules.

Students begin with a shared foundation in business strategy, finance, marketing, leadership and research methods before progressing to the Health Management specialisation in the second semester. The final semester is dedicated to a 30-credit dissertation, offering students the opportunity to investigate a strategic healthcare management challenge in depth.

What Will Students Learn?

The specialisation addresses four essential dimensions of modern healthcare leadership:

  • Health Systems, Policy and Economics: Explore international healthcare systems, health economics, financing models, regulation and public policy. Learn to evaluate healthcare performance, sustainability, and the effectiveness of different healthcare models.
  • Strategic Economics and Finance in Healthcare: Understand healthcare financing, health insurance, provider reimbursement, financial sustainability and value-based healthcare. Develop the ability to make informed strategic investment and resource-allocation decisions.
  • Digital Health, AI and Healthcare Transformation: Discover how artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, telemedicine and digital technologies are reshaping healthcare. Learn to assess digital innovations and develop responsible transformation strategies.
  • Healthcare Organisations: Leadership, Workforce, Quality and Ethics: Develop the leadership capabilities needed to manage complex healthcare organisations, address workforce challenges, improve service quality and patient safety, and make ethically responsible decisions.

Why Choose Health Management at IBS?

Strategic business education with healthcare expertise: Combine an international management degree with specialised knowledge of healthcare systems, organisations and markets.

Future-focused digital and AI capabilities: Understand how emerging technologies can improve healthcare operations, decision-making, patient services and organisational performance.

Finance and value-based healthcare: Develop expertise in healthcare economics, insurance, reimbursement, investment and sustainable healthcare business models.

Leadership for complex organisations: Learn to manage multidisciplinary teams, workforce challenges, quality improvement and organisational transformation.

Practical, decision-oriented learning: Apply knowledge through healthcare case studies, management simulations, strategic business cases and digital transformation projects.
