Under the name “Own Your Shift”, the THE SHIFT Conference, organised jointly by the Hungarian Advertising Association (MAKSZ) and the Hungarian Association of Communication Agencies (MRSZ), is launching a competition for young professionals working in advertising, media, and marketing. Early-career professionals can submit a short description or video of a professional topic, phenomenon, or challenge they consider important for their planned “lightning talk” presentation by 19 January. The most interesting and relevant submissions will have the opportunity to present on stage before a professional audience at the Eiffel Műhelyház on 18 February, alongside renowned international and domestic communication experts.
Regarding this opportunity, Nikolett Blaskó, President of MAKSZ, emphasised that the jointly organised MAKSZ–MRSZ conference is designed to prepare the future of the profession and to address the upcoming challenges and their solutions. “Therefore, it was clear that, alongside experienced professionals and both international and domestic industry stars, we also want to give a voice to the next generation, to the talent following in our footsteps.”
“With the Own Your Shift programme, we aim to give visibility and recognition to the next generation. We provide a prominent platform at the conference for the unconventional presentations of talented young professionals, integrating them into the sessions that best match their topics. It may even happen that a young presenter takes the stage between a renowned international and a renowned domestic speaker, such as Byron Sharp and Krisztián Steigervald. Moreover, the selected 3–4 young professionals will be supported in their preparation by a four-member mentor team,” added Péter Novák, President of MRSZ.
The best topics will be selected by professionals by 28 January. The professional mentors and consultants of Own Your Shift, who will both select the proposals and support the participants’ preparation, are:
- Timi Balogh – Marketing Project Lead, Europe, Deutsche Telekom
- Debóra Blaumann – Head of Marketing and PR, Erste / Executive Board Member, MRSZ
- Gergő Marosi – Chief Creative Officer, mito / Board Member, MAKSZ; Head of the KRU Talent Program
- Dr. Bálint Nagy – Head of Marketing Department, International Business School (IBS) / Honorary Lifetime Member, MRSZ
