Challenge yourself with the International Trivia Competition of IBS, Emirates and the British Embassy Budapest!

IBS, Emirates, and the British Embassy invite all 11th- and 12th-graders (students in their last two grades) in Hungary to join their unique competition where English skills and global knowledge are put to the test.

The extremely popular competition has expanded its participant base to include students from the following countries:

• Croatia
• Serbia
• Slovakia

Participation is free for everyone, but registration is required.
The entire competition will be conducted in English.

Students with a learning disability will be given an extra 15 minutes to complete the competition.

Details:

• 1^st round (IBS Budapest Campus):

Quiz of 100 questions (history, geography, culture, public knowledge, etc.) in English and an essay of 250 words. During the first round, students will have 60 minutes to complete a quiz and to write an essay on a general topic, requiring the opinion or experience of the student.

• 2^nd round (IBS Budapest Campus): 

10 students with the best results are invited to the final, where they do a new quiz and make a 10-minute presentation about a given topic. 

Using a dictionary is not allowed at any stage of the competition.

Prizes: 

• 1^st place: Return ticket and accommodation for two persons for one week to any destination where Emirates operates a flight.
• 2^nd place: Return ticket and accommodation for two persons for one week in any European country.
• 3^rd place: Return ticket and accommodation for two persons for a weekend in any European country.

At least one passenger must be over 18 years of age at the start of the journey.

Special Prize: the winners (TOP 3) will be invited by the British Ambassador, Mr. Justin McKenzie Smith for a tea party at his residence.

• All finalists receive a special scholarship for the bachelor's programmes that we offer.

• Special prize of 1.000 EUR for the assisting teacher of the winner (1st place)
• Special prize of 750 EUR for the assisting teacher of the runner-up (2nd place)
• Special prize of 500 EUR for the assisting teacher of the 3rd place
• Special prize of 3.000 EUR for the secondary school of the winner (1st place)

Timeline of the competition:

• Application deadline: 13 March 2026 (until 11.59 p.m.) The TOP 3 winners from the previous years' competitions are not eligible to reapply for the IBS World Tour 2026.
• 1^st round: 20 March 2026 (Friday), on IBS Budapest Campus. Registration starts from 14:00 p.m., the competition starts from 15:30 p.m.
• 2^nd round: 17 April 2026 (Friday), on IBS Budapest Campus. Registration starts from 13:45, the competition starts from 14:00 p.m.
