On December 17, 2014 the United States and Cuba announced that they would renew diplomatic relations. While the world is celebrating the lift of sanctions against Cuba, Cuban dissidents have their worries. Cuban perfomance artist Tania Bruguera was arrested three times in the course of two days. The well known artist, who shares her time between Cuba and the US, wanted to carry out an open mike event, entitled Tatlin’s Whisper #6, in Havana’s Revolution Square where citizens could speak about how they imagine Cuba’s future. No permission was granted for this public event and her arrests hindered this open event of free speech to take place, which showed the difficulties and the ambiguities of the present.
