Route to IBS:

We do not have a pick-up service from the airport, you can use the Airport Mini-Bus or the official taxi company called Főtaxi to get to the city.

IBS is located in Graphisoft Park in the 3rd district of Budapest, the address is 7 Záhony utca, 1031 Budapest. Please check out our website how to get here. 

English testing:

  • University Foundation: all students must take the IBS English test ONLINE. 
  • BSc programmes: all students who are not exempt from English testing must take the IBS English test ONLINE. The speaking part and listening comprehension will be ONLINE on the following dates: 10 and 24 August, 7 September.  
  • MSc programmes: all students who are not exempt from English testing must take the IBS English test ONLINE. 

You can write the IBS English test online only once at any time. Test-writing time is maximum 100 minutes and no aid can be used!

If you must take the speaking part and listening comprehension, you will have to sign up for a date online. You will receive an email from Moodle Mailer and you will book the date online following the instructions in the email.

After the test result (1-2 days), you can enrol at the Centre for Student Services or Online. 

If you are exempt from the English test, you can enrol directly at the Centre for Student Services or Online. 

Please check your emails regularly to read the messages about your English testing. 

Please note that if your tuition fee payment is not the full amount (because of bank charges or online transaction charges), you should pay the difference cash in euro before you enrol. 

Accommodation:

The on-campus Residence Hall is about 200 m from the IBS Offices building, the address is 3rd district, 6 Reichl Kálmán utca. You can move in the Residence Hall on or after 1 September if you have paid the rental fee. With further RH questions please contact the RH Manager, Ms Maria Ortiz at osm@ibs-b.hu

Public transport tickets:

When you arrive in Budapest, it will take some days until you receive your temporary student card certificate at IBS which entitles you to a student pass. So please buy tickets or full-price passes until you receive this certificate. Find ticket options on the website of the Budapest transport company.

Health insurance

Non-EU citizens can buy their health insurance in the ground floor lobby of the IBS Offices Building from the appointed insurance agent, Mr Tamás Kocsis-Barna in September. Please contact the Centre for Student Services upon arrival for the dates. 

The health insurance is valid for 12 months and costs HUF 84,000 (equivalent to appr. EUR 260). The insurance fee must be paid cash in Hungarian Forints, please note that you cannot change money at IBS, just in Auchan shopping mall which is very close to IBS. You will need your passport and address in Budapest.

EU students should bring their European Health Insurance Card.

Life in Budapest

Please check out our website for basic information. The official currency of Hungary is FORINT. It is better to change your money in the city and not at the airport. There is also an exchange office in the Auchan shopping mall next to the campus.

Bachelor's programmes

Please find some important information below about the enrolment and the academic year.

Enrolment dates:

  • 17 - 27 August 2020, between 9-12 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. on weekdays (except Friday afternoon) - Semester 1 enrolment for students residing in Hungary (year 1, face-to-face classes)
  • 1 - 18 September 2020 - Semester 1 enrolment for students coming from abroad (year 1, face-to-face classes)
  • 1 - 18 September 2020 - Semester 1 ONLINE enrolment for students who cannot arrive in Sept. (year 1, ONLINE classes)

​Online classes for Non-EU citizens:

You can request starting your classes ONLINE if you have not received your visa in September or you have travel difficulties due to COVID-19. Please write to studentadmin@ibs-b.hu after 1 September. (Please note that if you start your classes online, the first semester fee is non-refundable.) 

You can join face-to-face classes anytime in the first semester when you can travel to IBS. 

English testing:

Please note that you can enrol only after completing our English testing (only for those who are required to take the test.) 

You can take the test online only once at any time.

The speaking part and listening comprehension also online at the following dates: 10 Aug., 24 Aug. or 7 September. 

If you must take the speaking part and listening comprehension, you will have to sign up for a date online. You will receive an email from Moodle Mailer and you will book the date online following the instructions in the email.

  • original high school diploma with original certified English translation,
  • original English language certificate if it makes you exempt from test writing,
  • statement of bank transfer/cash payment of tuition fee,
  • 2 colour ID photos,
  • non-EU citizens: passport; EU citizens: ID or passport, Hungarian citizens: ID, TAJ and adóazonosító cards.

Please note that if your tuition fee payment is not the full amount (because of bank charges or online transaction charges), you should pay the difference cash in euro before you enrol. 

Start of the first semester: 14 September 2020

The Centre for Student Services will inform you about the first day by email a few days before the start. 

Master's programmes in Budapest

  • original Bachelor’s degree certificate and its certified English translation (or hard copy of work reference letter accompanied by your CV if you have been admitted with),
  • statement of bank transfer / cash payment of tuition fee,
  • original English language certificate if it makes you exempt from test writing,
  • 2 colour ID photos,
  • non-EU citizens: passport; EU citizens: ID or passport, Hungarian citizens: ID, TAJ and adóazonosító cards.

Please note that if your tuition fee payment is not the full amount (because of bank charges or online transaction charges), you should pay the difference cash in euro at the Cash Office before you enrol.

Start of the first semester: 21 September 2020

The Centre for Student Services will inform you about the first day by email a few days before the start.
