Please find some general information regarding the spring 2024 intake.

Please click on your programme below to find enrolment details.  Please note that it is obligatory to attend the Orientation Day that will be held on April 12 in person if you have received your visa by then or online if you are still waiting for your visa.

You may contact us at info@ibsbudapest.com if something is not clear.

STUDY MODE

The Hungarian immigration authority announced that it will be closed from January 1, 2024, until February 29, 2024. During this time, no new visa appointments can be made until March 1st, and already submitted visa requests will not be processed until March 1st either. The reason for this shutdown is technical, due to harmonisation with EU law.

In order to minimise the inconvenience for our students, we have changed our 2024 Spring intake as follows: instead of February, classes will begin for all newcomers on April 15, 2024.

This will give each of you plenty of time to obtain your study visa and then attend classes on your chosen programmes. You will be provided with an alternate class schedule as well allowing you to finish your semester in June as you originally planned.

With these changes, we believe that we can give you as much flexibility as possible despite this setback, which is beyond our control.

IBS will launch all programmes where the student numbers are sufficient with face-to-face classes and will normally also offer an online study mode option only for those whose visa is delayed and cannot arrive in Budapest in April 2024.

You will be informed about the study mode of your programme by the Centre for Student Services after enrolment.

If your programme is offered only online or you choose online study mode due to your delayed visa process, you can still travel to Hungary at any time after you have received your visa.

Please note that the tuition fees are the same in the online study mode.

ENROLMENT INFORMATION

Please check the enrolment period on our website here.

A. Face-to-face enrolment:
Please come to the Centre for Student Services on the Campus during opening hours (9-12 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. every weekday except Friday afternoons).

If you enrol in person, please bring all original documents and certificates with you – you will not be able to enrol without presenting them on the spot.

B. Online enrolment:
PLEASE EMAIL TO studentadmin@ibs-b.hu to get an appointment from the Centre for Student Services for your online enrolment date and time.

Online enrolment is a recorded video chat where you have to present your original documents and sign the contract of education.

FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES

If your programme is offered with face-to-face classes but you cannot arrive on the campus before the first teaching day of your programme, you will start your studies ONLINE and join face-to-face classes whenever you receive you visa.

VISA ISSUES

As the Hungarian Consulates do not accept new permit applications until 1 March 2024, several consulates may not be able to offer you an appointment for a visa interview in time for you to arrive in Hungary before the start of the semester.

To provide our students with as much flexibility as possible, we are offering all IBS applicants the following solution:

IBS applicants who do not receive their visa until April are allowed to start their studies online from April 2024. They can submit their visa application whenever they receive an appointment from the Consulate, and they will be able to travel to Hungary any time after receiving their visa.

This allows you to have more options for interview appointments and travel dates. Also, in case of a visa refusal: until the END OF THE SPRING SEMESTER (30 June 2024), IBS applicants will be entitled to a FULL REFUND (with the exception of EUR 400) on condition that they have participated in online classes, activities and assessments as required to the best of their ability.

SPECIAL REFUND POLICY for the spring 2024 intake:

  • Once you have received the admission certificates of IBS for the visa application, you are entitled for a refund only if your visa is refused and you email the visa refusal document to IBS (see further conditions below). No other excuse for claiming a refund is accepted. Participation in classes, activities and assessments as required to the best of your ability is a condition of getting a refund.
  • In case your visa is granted, we CANNOT refund you the tuition fee and the registration fee in any circumstances.
  • If your visa is rejected and you have not enrolled yet, EUR 400 from your payment is non-refundable, the rest will be refunded if you meet all conditions.
  • Once you have enrolled, participation in classes, activities and assessments as required to the best of your ability becomes a condition of getting a refund or a permission for deferral. If your visa is rejected, you have already enrolled and fulfilled the participation requirement, you may reclaim up to 30 June 2024 the full amount of your paid fees with the exception of EUR 400.

We offer you this solution on the condition that:

  1. You pay your tuition fee until 20 February,
  2. You ask the Consulate for a visa appointment until 10 March,
  3. You enrol online until 10 April and
  4. You participate in your online classes, activities and assessments as required to the best of your ability until you receive the visa.
  • If you regularly fail to show up on your classes, your student status and your residence permit will be suspended. In this case you will be asked to leave the country within 8 days and your tuition fee and registration fee will NOT be refunded.
  • If you decide to leave Hungary or to transfer to another institution, the tuition fee and the registration fee will NOT be refunded.
  • Please note that no refunds are available after the last day of the semester’s teaching period.
  • Please note that we can refund the fee only to the same bank account that you transferred it from due to strict financial regulations!

Please note, if the first semester’s teaching period is over, there is no refund.
