Arrival and enrolment information – February intake

All programmes will have ONLINE classes in the first semester of the February 2021 intake due to the local COVID situation. It is entirely up to students if they wish to travel to Budapest or prefer to stay in their home countries for the spring semester.

Enrolment will be ONLINE only as the campus is closed. Please write to request@ibs-b.hu to receive an appointment for your enrolment.

Online enrolment is a video chat where you have to present your original documents and sign the learning agreement. Please click on your programme below to find enrolment details.

Travelling to Hungary:

If you decide to travel, you can travel ANY time during the spring semester (after you have received your visa). Please make sure you bring your laptop, camera and face masks with you and secure your accommodation with good internet access. 

We do not have a pick-up service from the airport, you can use the Airport Mini-Bus or the official taxi company called Főtaxi to get to the city.

English testing before enrolment:

  • BSc programmes: all students who are not exempt from English testing must take the IBS English test ONLINE. The speaking part and listening comprehension will be ONLINE on the following date: 19 January, please register for it on https://seti.ibs-b.hu/ 
  • MSc programmes: all students who are not exempt from English testing must take the IBS English test ONLINE. 
  • University Foundation programme: students must take only the English test ONLINE.

You can write the IBS English test online only once at any time. Test-writing time is maximum 100 minutes and no aid can be used!

If you must take the speaking part and listening comprehension, you will have to sign up for a date online on https://seti.ibs-b.hu/. You will receive an email from Moodle Mailer and you will book the date online following the instructions in the email.

We will inform you about the test result (within1-2 days) and then you can enrol online. 

Accommodation:

The on-campus Residence Hall is about 200 m from the IBS Offices building, the address is 3rd district, 6 Reichl Kálmán utca. You can move in the Residence Hall on or after 1 February if you have paid the rental fee. With further RH questions please contact the RH Manager, Ms Maria Ortiz at osm@ibs-b.hu

Public transport tickets:

When you arrive in Budapest, it will take some days until you receive your temporary student card certificate which entitles you to a student pass. So please buy tickets or full-price passes until you receive this certificate. Find ticket options on the website of the Budapest transport company.

Health insurance

Non-EU citizens can buy their health insurance in the ground floor lobby of the IBS Offices Building from the appointed insurance agent, Mr Tamás Kocsis-Barna. Please contact the Centre for Student Services for the dates. 

The health insurance is valid for 12 months and costs HUF 84,000 (equivalent to appr. EUR 260). The insurance fee must be paid cash in Hungarian Forints, please note that you cannot change money at IBS, just in Auchan shopping mall which is very close to IBS. You will need your passport and address in Budapest.

EU students should bring their European Health Insurance Card.

Life in Budapest

Please check out our website for basic information. The official currency of Hungary is FORINT. It is better to change your money in the city and not at the airport. There is also an exchange office in the Auchan shopping mall next to the campus.

English testing:

Please note that you can enrol only after completing our English testing (only for those who are required to take the test.) 

You can take the test online only once at any time

If you must take the speaking part and listening comprehension, you will have to sign up for a date online. You will receive an email from Moodle Mailer and you will book the date online following the instructions in the email.

  • original high school diploma with original certified English translation,
  • original English language certificate if it makes you exempt from test writing,
  • statement of bank transfer/cash payment of tuition fee,
  • non-EU citizens: passport; EU citizens: ID or passport, Hungarian citizens: ID, TAJ and adóazonosító cards.

Master's programmes in Budapest

Online enrolment dates:

  • 11 January- 10 February 2021

Please writing to request@ibs-b.hu to receive an appointment from the Student Centre for your online enrolment.  (Online enrolment is a video chat where you have to present your original documents and sign the learning agreement.)

What to prepare for enrolment:

  • original Bachelor’s degree certificate and its certified English translation (or hard copy of work reference letters if you have been admitted with),
  • statement of bank transfer / cash payment of tuition fee,
  • original English language certificate /Medium of instruction certificate if applicable,
  • non-EU citizens: passport; EU citizens: ID or passport, Hungarian citizens: ID, TAJ and adóazonosító cards.

Start of the first semester: 15 February 2021

The Centre for Student Services will inform you about induction and the start by email.
