Enrolled students may request visa support letters for their relatives or friends who wish to visit them while they are studying in IBS.

If any of your relatives or friends are planning to travel to Budapest, you can help them to receive a visa by providing them with a Support or Invitation Letter.

Close relatives: If your parents or your underage brothers/sisters would like to visit you, no invitation or support letter is required at the Hungarian Consulates; a Certificate of Student Status is enough for that purpose. This certificate is issued by the Centre for Student Services.

Other relatives: If any other relatives (other than your parents or underage brothers/sisters) would like to visit you, a Support Letter can be issued by IBS. Please note that the support letter itself does not guarantee that your relatives will receive a Hungarian visa. You may also write your own Invitation Letter at the  National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing according to these instructions.

If you would like a Support Letter, it is advisable to request it in advance by e-mail. Write to the international student assistant Anna Doherty (adoherty@ibs-b.hu). Do not forget to include the necessary data (name, birth date, birth place, passport number and expiry date). When notified, come to the Student Centre during Opening Hours to pick it up.

For friends: If any of your friends would like to visit you, you can help them to receive the Hungarian visa by preparing your own Invitation Letter at the  National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing, instructions here.
