STUDY MODE
IBS will launch all programmes where the student numbers are sufficient with face-to-face classes and will normally also offer an online study mode option only for those whose visa is delayed and cannot arrive in Budapest in February 2023.
You will be informed about the study mode of your programme by the Centre for Student Services after enrolment.
If your programme is offered only online or you choose online study mode due to your delayed visa process, you can still travel to Hungary at any time after you have received your visa, but you will continue doing the entire spring semester with online classes.
Please note that the tuition fees are the same in the online study mode.
ENROLMENT INFORMATION
Please check the enrolment period on our website here.
A. Face-to-face enrolment:
Please come to the Centre for Student Services on the Campus during opening hours (9-12 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. every weekday except Friday afternoons).
If you enrol in person, please bring all original documents and certificates with you – you will not be able to enrol without presenting them on the spot.
B. Online enrolment:
PLEASE EMAIL TO studentadmin@ibs-b.hu to get an appointment from the Centre for Student Services for your online enrolment date and time.
Online enrolment is a video chat where you have to present your original documents and sign the contract of education.
FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES
If your programme is offered with face-to-face classes but you cannot arrive on the campus before the first teaching day of your programme, you will study ONLINE for one-month until 10 March and join f2f classes on 13 March (not before) on condition that you have arrived in Budapest.
If you cannot arrive by 13 March, you must complete the whole spring semester ONLINE.
VISA ISSUES
Currently the Hungarian consulates are overcrowded due to a large demand for studies in Hungary. Because of this, several consulates may not be able to offer you an appointment for a visa interview in time for you to arrive in Hungary before the start of the semester.
To provide our students with as much flexibility as possible, we are offering all IBS applicants the following solution:
IBS applicants who do not receive their visa until February are allowed to start their studies online from February 2023 and complete the first month or the entire first semester online if necessary. They can submit their visa application whenever they receive an appointment from the Consulate, and they will be able to travel to Hungary any time after receiving their visa.
This allows you to have more options for interview appointments and travel dates. Also, in case of a visa refusal: until the END OF THE SPRING SEMESTER (19 May 2023), IBS applicants will be entitled to a FULL REFUND (with the exception of EUR 400) on condition that they have participated in online classes, activities and assessments as required to the best of their ability.
SPECIAL REFUND POLICY for the February 2023 intake:
- Once you have received the admission certificates of IBS for the visa application, you are entitled for a refund only if your visa is refused and you email the visa refusal document to IBS. No other excuse for claiming a refund is accepted. Participation in classes, activities and assessments as required to the best of your ability is a condition of getting a refund.
- In case your visa is granted, we CANNOT refund you the tuition fee and the registration fee in any circumstances.
- If your visa is rejected and you have not enrolled yet, EUR 400 from your payment is non-refundable, the rest will be refunded.
- If your visa is rejected, you have already enrolled and fulfilled the participation requirement, you may reclaim up to 19 May 2023 the full amount of your paid fees with the exception of EUR 400.
We offer you this solution on the condition that:
- You pay your tuition fee until 20 January,
- You ask the Consulate for a visa appointment until 31 January,
- You enrol online until 6 February 2023 and
- You participate in your online classes, activities and assessments as required to the best of your ability until you receive the visa.
- If you regularly fail to show up on your classes, your student status and your residence permit will be suspended. In this case you will be asked to leave the country within 8 days and your tuition fee and registration fee will NOT be refunded.
- If you decide to leave Hungary or to transfer to another institution, the tuition fee and the registration fee will NOT be refunded.
- Please note that no refunds are available after the last day of the semester’s teaching period (19 May 2023).
- Please note that we can refund the fee only to the same bank account that you transferred it from due to strict financial regulations!
Please note, if the first semester’s teaching period is over then there is no refund.
